Wearable-Computer Market: $6 billion by 2016

If you are contemplating a job for the future, you should consider becoming a developer for wearable computing. Why? Because the wearable-computer market may swell to $6 billion by 2016, according to Wellingborough, U.K.-based IMS Research.



So, what the heck is "wearable computing". In short, its bringing digital, mobile, website and app functionality into clothing, watches, health monitors and computerized spectacles, like Google Glass. We're talking sensors that monitor your sleep, walking steps, body temperature - in essence connecting you to the Matrix holistically. Sounds sci-fi, right? But the reality is here.

 What are the steps you should be taking with your brand to begin integrate these new digital brand h@acks into your marketing communications programs?

1. Put yourself into the shoes of your users
2. Brainstorm ideas that will give them reasons to love your brand, but more importantly love your brand consumer-user experience
3. Develop a digital relevancy framework which aligns to their daily customer journey
4. Give your target customers the tools to help them build their own journies to your brand
5. Tie in offers, rewards and loyalty incentives, but foremost make their experience with your brand easy, memorable and something they want to "do" again.

Apple's Genius Bar Purpose: User Experience

Every visit the Apple Genius Bar? You visited to get your Apple product fixed, right? Amazing when it first was launched, a customer could go right into the store and attempt to get their broken item fixed. Funny thing is, though, the real purpose of the Genius Bar for Apple isn't really to "fix things". (You must be aware that many items are unfixable in store and must be sent in to a centralized warehouse for repair - just like any other retailer.)

The real purpose of the Apple Genius Bar is User Experience. The first job of the Genius is to acknowledge your problem and to change how you feel. Need proof? Google a search on Genius Bar Training for Apple and you'll learn that Apple Geniuses get TWICE as much training in changing how the customer feels as they do in solving tech problems. The Bar is there to make customers feel better than when they walked in.
Brandh@ck Insight: If you want your customer to be happy, allow them to be heard through a customer experience strategy. Don't allow them to be heard or don't empathize with their immediate problems and they will defect.

UX Search Queries On The Rise

In an analysis of UX vs Branding search queries over the past year, its clear UX is on the rise, particularly in 2013. While branding was the rage for the past decade, the new decade before us is where branding and UX work together seamlessly.


Is your agency poised for this new decade? Ask yourself these key questions to make sure you are starting off on the right foot:

  2.  Have you done some competitive benchmarking?
  3.  Do you have a web analytics platform lined up?
